Reporting energy and carbon performance in a companies Annual Report is gaining greater attention as customers and suppliers have a growing interest in what businesses are doing to minimise their impact on the planet. Getting this reporting right is therefore vital.
At DTEC we have the expertise to ensure your company reporting is robust and transparent, reducing risks and freeing up your time to deliver on your emissions reduction targets.
Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting
(SECR)
DTEC consultants can provide end-to-end support with SECR compliance. Reducing the burden on internal teams and ensuring your organisation meets the reporting requirements of the legislation.
What is SECR?
The UK government’s Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) policy was implemented on 1 April 2019. The regulations require large unquoted companies and large LLPs to report their UK energy use and associated greenhouse gas emissions relating to gas, electricity and transport fuel (as a minimum), as well as an intensity ratio and information relating to energy efficiency action, through their annual reports.
Does my organisation have to comply?
The legislation impacts approximately 11,900 UK organisations, many of which are large unquoted companies that have never reported on energy and carbon.
Unquoted companies or LLPs are defined as ‘large’ if they meet at least two of the following three criteria in a reporting year:
-
a turnover of £36 million or more;
-
a balance sheet of £18 million or more; or
-
250 employees or more

Quoted companies of any size are already obliged to report under mandatory greenhouse gas reporting regulations.
How can DTEC help?
We believe that accuracy and transparency are the key ingredients to robust emissions reporting. Our consultants are trained ISO 14064-1 lead auditors, so whether we undertake the calculations for you, or simply provide review and oversight of your work, we will work with you to ensure your energy and carbon data receives and equivalent level of scrutiny to the financial numbers in your annual report.
